Participant logs on or calls Schwab

Participant can access the GuidedSavings tool:

  • On www.schwabplan.com day and night
  • By phone, where Schwab Advice Services Representatives use the tool to access advice, then discuss it with the participant
Tool projects potential income

Shows the amount of likely retirement income based upon:

  • Pre-loaded plan balance, fund allocations and savings rate
  • Additional retirement assets including a spouse's plan
  • Non-traditional retirement investments such as real estate, collectibles, investment partnerships, etc.
Recommendation is generated

After analyzing hundreds of scenarios, GuidedSavings:

  • Recommends a specific savings rate
  • Suggests a fund allocation and specific investment recommendations from the list of plan funds
  • Shows the likelihood of achieving retirement goals
Participant explores alternatives

By changing variables, participant can see the impact of:

  • Different savings rates, retirement ages, withdrawals, outside assets, etc.
Advice is implemented immediately

To implement savings rate and fund allocation:

  • Online, the participant simply clicks "OK"
  • By phone, the participant authorizes the Schwab Advice Services Representative to implement the advice
  • Account is then automatically rebalanced annually, unless the participant opts out
